Who We Are
Trinity Church is governed by a board of elders which can consist of as many as 12 men and as few as 6 who serve three year terms. According to scripture, the primary roles of elders are to shepherd the flock and to oversee the corporate church. The Apostle Peter exhorted the elders to, " shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock." 1Peter 5:1-4
Some of the qualifications for eldership are found in Paul's first letter to Timothy chapter 3, verses 2-4:
2"Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil."
